Producer James Simon: Producer James Simon’s journey to becoming a well-respected Broadway producer is a story of perseverance and passion for theater. His first connection to the stage was as an actor, participating in school plays and summer camp performances. However, his career took a few unexpected turns through college and radio, leading him to discover his true calling behind the scenes in theater production. Born in Bronxville, New York, James studied communications at Emerson College in Boston. After completing his degree, he briefly worked in radio before moving to New York City in the early 1990s to pursue a full-time acting career. Like many aspiring performers, he juggled multiple jobs while striving to make a name for himself in the competitive theater world. However, it wasn’t long before he realized that his true talents and interests lay not in performing but in the producing side of theater. James’s first exposure to Broadway came when he worked on a revival of Damn Yankees. This experience opened his eyes to the complexities of bringing a show to life, from managing creative ideas to executing the logistics required for a successful production.
